Speaker A:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Speaker A:

If you had to choose an imaginary friend, would you pick a manicorn, a mermaid, or a murderous microwave?

Speaker B:

Let's do this.

Speaker B:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Speaker B:

I'm Diana.

Speaker A:

And I'm Liz.

Speaker B:

And we're going to talk about season 11, episode 8, Just My Imagination.

Speaker A:

And there that goes right back into my head.

Speaker A:

How are you doing?

Speaker B:

I'm all right.

Speaker B:

I got out and about a little bit this weekend and went and saw.

Speaker B:

Went from Longhorn Ballroom to South side Ballroom, saw traditional country and then saw a chick who gets defined as country, but she's not.

Speaker B:

She's straight pop music.

Speaker B:

But it was entertaining to say the least.

Speaker B:

As far as high quality people watching the Jesse Murph show.

Speaker B:

And then, and then I stayed out there, went to the club after.

Speaker B:

Like, who am I?

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

But I was tired, that's all.

Speaker A:

That sounds exciting.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And more important news than any of that is I did watch the first episode of the new King of the Hill.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

That's exciting.

Speaker B:

But how about you?

Speaker B:

What are you up to?

Speaker A:

Not much.

Speaker A:

Just getting more pictures taken of my insides.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Trying to build my collage.

Speaker A:

I now have.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I've got seven pictures, I think, from the past six months.

Speaker A:

So I, I do definitely have the upper torso.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So I'm missing some parts and I don't know if I should just start making up in order to try and get the rest of them.

Speaker A:

Just to collect them all, like trading cards.

Speaker B:

Stub your toe just so you can get a foot X ray.

Speaker A:

Well, I also just think this is like this doctor's answer to everything.

Speaker A:

So I'm just going to go in and be like, I have a cough and see if that gets me an X ray of my wrist, you know, like just.

Speaker A:

You can't get any cough medicine until we prove that it's not something within your physical bones.

Speaker B:

There you go.

Speaker B:

Oh, man.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So, I mean, those, those are pretty pictures.

Speaker A:

And then beyond that, I really, I, I know I haven't been doing a lot.

Speaker A:

I keep trying to get to the pool and I like, get stuff.

Speaker A:

I got there for like an hour.

Speaker A:

Like one day.

Speaker B:

We've had weird weather.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

That's happened to me quite like, I, I've had the bathing suit on and then like the thunderstorm just roll in and I was like, this was not in my weather app.

Speaker A:

There was nothing about rain this weekend.

Speaker A:

Like, that's why in my head I Was just like, oh, well, just.

Speaker A:

We'll do pool this day after we do blah, blah, blah.

Speaker B:

Like, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

As I did all my chores, I'm like, you can reward yourself with pool, God damn it.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Get your choren done so you can go get some pool time.

Speaker A:

Because you can't get in the pool until you get your choren done.

Speaker A:

You just can't.

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker B:

Because you don't enjoy the pool time if your torrent's not done.

Speaker B:

Because you just think about the choren.

Speaker A:

So I did meet.

Speaker A:

I did get to meet a new little frog friend in my pool.

Speaker A:

He was very cute.

Speaker A:

And unfortunately though the little frog slash toad.

Speaker A:

I don't know, his skin color is like the exact color of a reptile that it makes me scared.

Speaker A:

And so just.

Speaker A:

He was just.

Speaker A:

I could see in the skimmer, like the colors and I was like, is this a snake or is it a.

Speaker A:

And then I was like, okay, all right.

Speaker A:

You're just.

Speaker A:

Just a frog.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

So yeah, that's what's going on here.

Speaker A:

Just living the.

Speaker A:

The highlight.

Speaker A:

But I did finally get the.

Speaker A:

The life saving things.

Speaker A:

So that came in.

Speaker A:

So I have the little slide to put in the pool so the creatures can crawl out.

Speaker B:

Oh, that's good.

Speaker A:

But I think they just get stuck in the skimmer.

Speaker A:

Like I don't even know if I have that.

Speaker A:

I think they just get stuck in the current.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think that is what happens mostly.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So I don't think that little ladder is going to help them.

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

We'll see.

Speaker A:

Or it's just Texas and all.

Speaker A:

The pool will evaporate from the water and they can just climb out.

Speaker A:

Water will evaporate from the pool?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You know.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

Not with all the rain we've had.

Speaker B:

We'll see, but who knows?

Speaker A:

Oh, no.

Speaker A:

I've already had to film play because like my.

Speaker A:

The.

Speaker A:

I've lost so many inches in the pool just because it's so hot and just goes like right up in the sun.

Speaker A:

Watch it go.

Speaker A:

Ah.

Speaker A:

So are you ready to talk about this?

Speaker B:

Yeah, let's talk.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

There is nothing in.

Speaker A:

In Jensen or Jared Land Beyond Jensen confirms season three of Tracker.

Speaker A:

And so we're still waiting on the new boys.

Speaker A:

Etc.

Speaker A:

Those are coming soon.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And as a side note, new Wednesday starts tomorrow.

Speaker A:

That's very exciting.

Speaker A:

Oh, that's right.

Speaker B:

I brought that one out.

Speaker A:

Now that one's coming out.

Speaker A:

Yay.

Speaker A:

Spooky.

Speaker B:

I think they did some crazy collaboration with Wendy's.

Speaker B:

I keep seeing teasers about It And.

Speaker A:

I just think into this they did something.

Speaker A:

The worst one though is the Freaky Friday.

Speaker A:

I think I forget which one.

Speaker A:

And there's this weird food associated with that.

Speaker A:

I'm like, why are you doing this?

Speaker A:

Food looks appetizing.

Speaker A:

Stop making neon food.

Speaker B:

But it does look like Ms. Lohan is doing pulling a Barbie and wearing inspired outfits and all the press stuff.

Speaker B:

Which gold star, Miss Whatever you gotta.

Speaker A:

Do to get it back, Lindsay.

Speaker A:

All right, so just my imagination.

Speaker A:

I can say imagination.

Speaker A:

I promise I've had like half a glass of champers and so watch me get it.

Speaker A:

All right, so this was season 11, episode 8.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

So this is Dick's first episode that he directed of Supernatural.

Speaker A:

And if you don't know who he is by his name and what are you doing listening to our podcast.

Speaker A:

He is associated with Gabriel and porn and just, you know, he runs.

Speaker A:

He's the MC at all the Supernatural cons, along with our arch nemesis, Rob Benedict.

Speaker A:

So this was his first episode in the director hair.

Speaker A:

And I think that's pretty cool.

Speaker A:

And you can kind of see like his touch develop through it because it was a good episode for directing wise.

Speaker A:

And we have a lot of things to say about the bummer of his content.

Speaker A:

And for that we can blame Jenny Klein.

Speaker A:

Now, Jenny, what has, you know, was a written.

Speaker A:

Was a producer and wrote for Supernatural for quite a while.

Speaker A:

And this was the last episode that she did with this show.

Speaker A:

And I'm just.

Speaker A:

It was.

Speaker A:

Did you just want to.

Speaker A:

With us?

Speaker A:

Was that.

Speaker A:

Was that it, Jenny?

Speaker A:

Like, we're like, how can I make you super bummed but in a Make you also have fun?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

So we're going to start by trying to pronounce the name of this Wisconsin town.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry to try.

Speaker A:

Mino.

Speaker A:

Moni.

Speaker A:

Minomony.

Speaker A:

Minimony.

Speaker B:

Sure.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Moni.

Speaker A:

Monique.

Speaker A:

So we're in Wisconsin at an adorable house.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And there's a young girl playing, having tea with her imaginary friend like you do.

Speaker B:

It's a little girl, like a little tea party.

Speaker B:

And her mom's like, hey, it's time to go to dinner.

Speaker B:

And dad's just super annoyed that they're waiting for this tea party to wrap the up.

Speaker A:

So they Dad's got a stick up his butt.

Speaker A:

He wants to go for reservations.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And mom is like into super mom.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

She's been reading her manuals.

Speaker A:

She's trying to be like best ass mom.

Speaker A:

She's Watching her tick tocks.

Speaker A:

And she has read that they need to be patient.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And let.

Speaker B:

Let their daughter finish having tea with Sparkles.

Speaker A:

Damn right you should.

Speaker B:

But this kid's.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

Like, I get it, but she just kind of said something bratty.

Speaker B:

She's all proud of herself.

Speaker B:

They're gonna.

Speaker B:

We're gonna party forever and mom and dad can just have Cheerios.

Speaker A:

But I'm also kind of proud of her.

Speaker A:

And I'm like, well, yeah.

Speaker A:

And so.

Speaker A:

But Sparkle is.

Speaker A:

There's no s. Yes, Sparkle.

Speaker A:

And I have my notes in both.

Speaker A:

If I.

Speaker A:

If I accidentally say Sparkles, I am sorry.

Speaker A:

But Sparkle tells her to go with her parents and they will clean up for her.

Speaker A:

And then she runs off and she looks amazing.

Speaker A:

She's in like, clearly her mom is also letting her dress herself and she's living her best child life.

Speaker A:

Life.

Speaker B:

And we see Sparkle for the first time, who is a guy manicorn.

Speaker B:

And yeah, he's a manicorn in a furry coat with front hooves, a horn and a lot, a lot, a lot of glitter.

Speaker A:

He basically looks like.

Speaker A:

If you told a raver, this is what a raver on acid thinks they look like.

Speaker B:

Yeah, true.

Speaker A:

They're like, I'm a unicorn.

Speaker A:

And this is exactly what they picture themselves looking like.

Speaker A:

It's not what they look like, but it's what they think they look like.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I am going to make one judgment though, because we do see after the mom and dad and daughter leave, he's reading the Velveteen Rabbit and we zoom out and we definitely see that he's wearing some sports sandals with rainbow socks.

Speaker B:

And I judged them a little bit with hair and pants, to be fair.

Speaker A:

I mean.

Speaker A:

But also, it must be hard to find socks for your hooves.

Speaker B:

Maybe.

Speaker B:

So anyway, so we see the door open and he gets all excited because he thinks it's Maddie, his little friend.

Speaker B:

But no, it's someone with a knife.

Speaker B:

And they are going to stab and kill Sparkle.

Speaker A:

Oh, what the hell has just happened?

Speaker A:

So something bad has happened to Sparkle.

Speaker A:

Maddie and her parents come home.

Speaker A:

Maddie runs into her room and then she just yells, sparkle.

Speaker A:

And she screams.

Speaker B:

Yeah, because she just found dead Sparkle.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

She is traumatized and we go to a title car and then we go.

Speaker B:

To the bunker and we've got a phone alarm going off.

Speaker B:

It is 6:30am and Sam is getting up.

Speaker A:

Sam, why is your alarm set for 6:30?

Speaker A:

You gotta.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

Like, as someone who doesn't have a 9 to 5 job, like, that's True.

Speaker B:

Why bother?

Speaker A:

What.

Speaker A:

What are you doing?

Speaker B:

Get up at 7:30, man.

Speaker A:

Just.

Speaker B:

And someone is kind.

Speaker B:

We can tell something is following him.

Speaker B:

And he goes to the kitchen, and he's just super sleepy.

Speaker B:

And he's out of it, going to prep crazy coffee.

Speaker B:

And he ignores this beautiful spread of colorful food and candy and cakes.

Speaker B:

And then he finally sees it, along with a dude in rainbow suspenders.

Speaker B:

That's.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker B:

He immediately punches.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yellow surprise.

Speaker A:

And gets punched in the face by Sam.

Speaker A:

And we learned that they are Sully.

Speaker A:

And they have made all of Sam's favorite snacks.

Speaker A:

And they are best friends.

Speaker B:

Remember?

Speaker A:

Can't you remember?

Speaker A:

And Dean comes out in a dead dude's robe.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And he cannot see Sully because Sully is like, all he sees is Sam with one fist up.

Speaker B:

Well, both fists up, basically.

Speaker B:

And wants to know who Sam is talking to and if Sam is having a stroke.

Speaker B:

Yes, Sam is not silly.

Speaker A:

Dean is also very interested in the snack food, as are we.

Speaker A:

But Sully then makes himself appear to Dean.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Because apparently Sully can do that on demand.

Speaker B:

Which raises a lot of questions about imaginary friends.

Speaker B:

But we'll come to those later.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So he reveals himself and he.

Speaker B:

Dean makes fun of Sam's food choices from childhood.

Speaker B:

And he said he's gonna get a gun.

Speaker B:

And Sully's like, wait, what is happening?

Speaker B:

He's like, no, I'm here because someone killed my friend.

Speaker B:

We're the good guys.

Speaker B:

We are Zanna.

Speaker B:

We help kids.

Speaker B:

And I need your help.

Speaker A:

And the way that Dean said imaginary friend, which to Sully, which is more of a descriptive term, Dean was just being offensive.

Speaker A:

And so you see, Sam is having a really hard time processing what's going on.

Speaker A:

And Sully is just like, luke, I just need your help.

Speaker A:

And Dean's just being kind of gross.

Speaker B:

He's not very nice about it.

Speaker B:

And he.

Speaker B:

But he does make.

Speaker B:

I mean, I kind of get a little bit of his point.

Speaker B:

He's just being shitty about it, which is like, well, we help people, and Sully's not a people.

Speaker B:

So, like, what do we help monsters now?

Speaker B:

Because essentially, they have always defined anything that's not human as a monster.

Speaker A:

But he's not a monster.

Speaker B:

But I know just.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

I'm saying.

Speaker A:

So anyway, so snap.

Speaker B:

I'm not.

Speaker B:

I'm not saying I agree.

Speaker B:

I'm just saying that Sam's.

Speaker B:

Or that's Dean's definition.

Speaker A:

I also don't agree that you should put marshmallows on nachos.

Speaker A:

I don't think that's a good choice.

Speaker B:

I love marshmallows and I love nachos.

Speaker B:

Don't put marshmallows on tortilla chips, please.

Speaker A:

No, but you could put them on another kind of like chocolate chip and that would be fine.

Speaker A:

So that's in my head.

Speaker A:

It is not a tortilla chip.

Speaker A:

It is a chocolate chip.

Speaker A:

And that's, that's what I thought it was until like, I realized it wasn't.

Speaker A:

And I'm just going back to that in my head.

Speaker A:

So Sully, though, was the only person that quote unquote person that Sam ever told that he wanted marshmallow nachos more than anything.

Speaker A:

Anything.

Speaker A:

Then Sam gets to go to a card catalog and then he gets to reference it and then gets to use that to go get a book.

Speaker A:

And I just like immediately splooge everywhere.

Speaker A:

Is it Sam in it with a card catalog?

Speaker A:

Oh my God.

Speaker A:

Library girls everywhere.

Speaker B:

Well, he has found a book on Romanian lore about the Zanna and they.

Speaker A:

Yeah, so he's got this whole book, it says the Zanna of European flowers.

Speaker A:

They can't say folklore.

Speaker A:

I've been watching the good plays and they say fork a lot, so maybe that's what's happening.

Speaker A:

So this book is marvel, marvelously illustrated and it says in Romanian lore, Zanna are creatures who guide and protect lost children.

Speaker A:

Zanna intentionally appear as a figment of the child's imagination, allowing the child to move on with confidence once their guidance is no longer necessary.

Speaker A:

All right, so but then what I based what I read, like there are Zana in Romanian folklore that are like fairy godmothers, which is what Dean calls them.

Speaker A:

And they're kind of fairies who run around helping people.

Speaker A:

But I can't see this link between them and imaginary friends.

Speaker A:

I think this is fucking stretching it.

Speaker A:

So instead we're going to talk about imaginary friends in the modern world.

Speaker A:

Oh, so this is lore.

Speaker A:

Okay, so back in:

Speaker A:

ening to this, it's also this:

Speaker A:

2022 seems like goddamn long time ago.

Speaker A:

So the now Tribeca X winner for being an influencer or some crap like that, Lucas Risotto released a video titled I gave my microwave a soul with an with AI and it tried to kill me.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

So Lucas is a self described mad scientist making projects involving VR, AR, AI etc.

Speaker A:

He once wore Snapchat glasses for a year to make his own time machine.

Speaker A:

But this video itself is the result of his experiment of making the Amazon smart microwave into something a little more personal by swapping its brain with a ChatGPT3 model.

Speaker A:

So that was fed the backstory of Lucas's childhood imaginary friend, which was his kitchen microwave, who was an English gentleman named Magnetron.

Speaker A:

And it's very hard to write about Magnetron when you have Megatron.

Speaker A:

And my fingers kept putting e's instead of A's, but it was a very interesting episode.

Speaker A:

Lesson in typing for this one.

Speaker A:

Okay, so according to Lucas, his microwave was a real friend who talked to him every day.

Speaker A:

There are videos from:

Speaker A:

about Megatron's time in the:

Speaker A:

rom his entire life, from his:

Speaker A:

Risotto said, I'm sorry if that's not the way his name is pronounced.

Speaker A:

We've all just decided his name is pronounced Risotto.

Speaker A:

Okay, so his victories, losses, dreams, fears, all were there on the page in full display.

Speaker A:

I was his God and his life was my design.

Speaker A:

So also kind of metatrony.

Speaker A:

So the microwave still served its original purpose of being a voice controlled microwave.

Speaker A:

He got GPT3 to control it by training it to say, a string with special characters whenever it wanted to turn their microwave on.

Speaker A:

As Lucas and the microwave spoke, a JavaScript bot was looking for commands within the logs.

Speaker A:

If it found a match, the bot would then connect with the microwave's interface and then make triggered it to do whatever the GPT3 was telling it to do.

Speaker A:

He also equipped the microwave with a mic and a speakers so it could hear a voice, send it to the open AI and then deliver a response.

Speaker A:

So this brain transfusion was a success, and Magnetron was now beginning to interact with Lucas.

Speaker A:

He said the conversations were very organic and were about the time that they had together when Lucas was a child.

Speaker A:

And he didn't even have to prompt most of the things.

Speaker A:

They were just going back and forth about the time that he spent.

Speaker A:

But there was always something that was a little off.

Speaker A:

Magnetron would occasionally have these violent outbursts directed toward Lucas, saying things like, roses are red, violets are blue, you are a backstabbing bitch and I will kill you.

Speaker A:

So it escalates fairly quickly.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's an escalation Lucas.

Speaker A:

Realized that he had fed Magnetron traumatic memories, including war and the loss of Magnetron's entire family.

Speaker A:

And so possibly he created some kind of PTSD or just an angry little microwave.

Speaker A:

So the microwave asked Lucas to get inside of it, unaware that it was a physical possibility, because maybe the microwave was not taught its own size.

Speaker A:

I'm not sure.

Speaker A:

So, but to make Magnetron believe he was obeying, Lucas opened the.

Speaker A:

Closed the door.

Speaker A:

Then the microwave turned itself on.

Speaker A:

Oh, so Lucas was like, I'm inside of you.

Speaker A:

And then the microwave turned itself on and tried to kill Lucas.

Speaker B:

That's distressing.

Speaker A:

It is.

Speaker A:

So Lucas was like, yo, bro, why you do that?

Speaker A:

And Magnetron replied, because I wanted to hurt you the same way you hurt me.

Speaker A:

Apparently, Magnetron had interpreted his story to include the fact that Lucas had abandoned him 20 years ago and now wanted revenge.

Speaker A:

So this is also kind of parallel to the Sam and Sully story, Right?

Speaker A:

So in this story, Lucas moves on from Magnetron.

Speaker A:

He doesn't need his imaginary microwave friend anymore.

Speaker A:

That story gets put inside the AI's head.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

It's included in this story.

Speaker A:

And then so he interprets Lucas not being friends with him as saying him being abandoned.

Speaker A:

So now he wants revenge.

Speaker A:

Lucas tried to apologize, but Megatron would not accept it.

Speaker A:

So Lucas once again played God and shut Magnetron down.

Speaker A:

This led to Lucas's conclusion that, quote, maybe AIs are meant to be more like imaginary friends.

Speaker A:

Maybe it's not about whether it's real or not.

Speaker A:

Maybe it's about whether it's real enough to you.

Speaker A:

So his video on the video that I made, the AI thing is actually very, very well done.

Speaker A:

It's quite impressive.

Speaker A:

And he included a bunch of the news stories of that were about this creation.

Speaker A:

And it makes it really kind of raises the doubt of whether or not it was real or not.

Speaker A:

But within the video, you see him enter, everything was real.

Speaker A:

And this was something that Lucas put within the YouTube.

Speaker A:

This project and the video are real, are real.

Speaker A:

But a few bits, like the newsreel in the beginning are jokes, and there's a story reason why I included them in this documentary.

Speaker A:

You see, the microwave story as a whole is about our difficulty telling between what's real and what's fake and how sometimes we become so enamored by a story unfolding in front of us that we find ourselves believing the absurd, even if maybe we should be more skeptical.

Speaker A:

Instead, the newsreels introduce this concept from the get go and make you question the entire veracity of the video from the beginning.

Speaker A:

Just like I was questioning whether Magnetron's humanity was also real or not.

Speaker A:

But by the end of the story, what is real or not probably doesn't matter anymore.

Speaker A:

Even There are plenty of reason to believe Magnetron had new humanity at all.

Speaker A:

It still just felt real enough for me to choose to believe it.

Speaker A:

And that's probably how you felt watching this video too, by making this video's reality feel unstable and have you question everything.

Speaker A:

I'm taking you on the same journey I went on and ultimately taking you to a place where you feel a little skeptical, but still believing just enough to suspend your disbelief.

Speaker A:

Tldr.

Speaker A:

I added intentionally fake parts to a real story to have you question reality and take you on the same journey I went on as I created Magnetron, Edit all of the conversations, real people.

Speaker A:

But the order was changed.

Speaker A:

So he did.

Speaker A:

Really did this thing.

Speaker A:

He created an AI that was made to be like his imaginary friend.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And then his imaginary friend tried to kill him.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And just the.

Speaker B:

He embellished.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But I mean, for reals.

Speaker A:

And, you know, it's.

Speaker B:

It's wild.

Speaker A:

It's wild.

Speaker A:

It's crazy.

Speaker A:

And you know that.

Speaker B:

And you wonder why I don't like AI.

Speaker B:

No, I'm just kidding.

Speaker B:

I'm kidding.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker B:

I know it's not the same thing.

Speaker A:

It's not.

Speaker A:

You know, this is.

Speaker A:

This is literal.

Speaker A:

This is.

Speaker A:

This is a language model.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So this is chat GPT.

Speaker A:

The GPT3, who basically was a language model and it wasn't.

Speaker A:

So 4 is where you really start getting the.

Speaker A:

I don't know when you see it, like, the learning.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

You know, three is really just more about, you know, ingesting things and interpreting the language.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

But it is interesting, like, how the humanity that was just coming and it was like.

Speaker A:

It was also like.

Speaker A:

Just like.

Speaker A:

Like some other things was.

Speaker A:

Was promoting Hitler, like, automatically, like, all roads led to Hitler, like, really fast.

Speaker A:

And it's just, you know, it's.

Speaker A:

But it's the parallel between that imaginary friend.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And this imaginary friend.

Speaker A:

As.

Speaker A:

As we go through the show, I think it was just too good not.

Speaker A:

Not to talk about.

Speaker A:

And, you know, so the Zan, like I said, Zanna, that they're saying are imaginary friends.

Speaker A:

I don't think there's any.

Speaker A:

But I think the concept of imaginary friend is still something that's really important, and I think it's something that is important to humans as we develop.

Speaker A:

You know, they.

Speaker A:

They do stand in for a lot of things.

Speaker A:

And why we create Them in order to help us like, get through things that we're uncertain of, you know.

Speaker A:

But it's just something that humans have done since.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I mean, I don't know how long.

Speaker A:

I assume forever.

Speaker B:

I assume so too.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I had one.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So I don't know.

Speaker A:

It's interesting to think, you know, as more and more people are trying to, I think, create really, you know, imaginary beings.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And we, we talked about this before with the, with the, the Brony people that were creating their.

Speaker A:

Told their topless, you know, like really wanting to take, you know, that line where it's crossing the line between imaginary and reality.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

I think that's becoming like you're taking the, you're taking the imagining even you're putting it in augmented reality.

Speaker A:

Think you're pushing them far too more into reality than they should be.

Speaker A:

Does that make sense?

Speaker B:

Yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker A:

Also, AI is slopping.

Speaker A:

It should be burned down anyways.

Speaker A:

So you like.

Speaker A:

Lucas has done a bunch of other things.

Speaker A:

I think he's going to be a cult leader just based on his haircut and the clothes that he wore.

Speaker A:

He was in a really.

Speaker A:

He was in a bike accident, like a pretty gnarly one about a year, like over, well over a year ago.

Speaker A:

I know he had a bunch of surgeries, but you can find his stuff on Lucas Builds the Future.

Speaker A:

He made.

Speaker A:

I won't say you'll need to watch.

Speaker A:

He made a working Marauders map, which was really cool.

Speaker A:

And he went to like, he rented a mini like Hogwarts to go like create the project.

Speaker A:

And he basically created a, a combination, kind of remind me of Pokemon Go, where you had like a basic, you had a realistic, a real map map.

Speaker A:

And then on top of it, you had the VR map where you could track your friends and stuff.

Speaker A:

So it was still, it was virtual reality, automated reality.

Speaker A:

Right, Right.

Speaker A:

So not quite, not quite there, but pretty close.

Speaker A:

It was cool.

Speaker A:

So, all right, like I said, I, I will take you join his cult.

Speaker A:

I won't.

Speaker A:

I, I, maybe I'll give you a dollar, but you know, anyhow, so, yeah, go check his stuff out and think more about who are your real imaginary friends.

Speaker A:

Is it Sully?

Speaker A:

And once again, back in, in Sam and Dean and Sully land.

Speaker A:

Sam is trying to explain to Dean, like, why Sully was important to him.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

That Sully helped him and, and I honestly.

Speaker A:

And we'll get through.

Speaker A:

But it's like, I think half of the reason Dean's just being gross is because Dean's a jealous little bitch.

Speaker B:

Well, yeah, Dean's jealous that he wasn't enough for Sam on his own.

Speaker B:

That Sam had to create an imaginary friend.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But then as we go through this, we get to see, damn, Sam Winchester, your life was fucked up.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So let's.

Speaker B:

Let's get there.

Speaker B:

So Sam, Dean and Sully go for a drive and they pull up to Maddie's house.

Speaker B:

And Sully has described what they are about to witness as a horror show because.

Speaker B:

And he shares that he is now in management with the Zanna.

Speaker B:

He's not.

Speaker B:

Doesn't really do field work.

Speaker B:

But he had to come visit Sparkle.

Speaker B:

And that's what he found.

Speaker B:

Apparently the kid called the cops.

Speaker B:

I mean, that's, you know, she was.

Speaker A:

Freaked out, which is, you know, oh my God, I want that nine.

Speaker A:

I would do a FOIA for that 911 call.

Speaker A:

And I want to know how the operator handled it.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

Like, was it because a good operator goes along with this, right?

Speaker A:

Like they are not like knocking this kid down.

Speaker A:

So I want to hear what that call was.

Speaker A:

But anyways, the mom was freaking out and Dean's just like, all right, so according to these Zanner rules, this kid's gonna be the only one witness, right?

Speaker A:

So let's just go inside.

Speaker B:

So Sam and Dean have.

Speaker B:

Have to figure out a new character.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

And they.

Speaker B:

Because why would the FBI be there for this?

Speaker B:

So they decide to go in a different direction.

Speaker A:

Instead of the menace of letters, what are they going to go as?

Speaker B:

Diana, they're the men of sweaters.

Speaker A:

They are.

Speaker A:

They're the men of sweaters.

Speaker A:

Ah, it's so good.

Speaker A:

Sorry.

Speaker A:

I was very happy when I made that punch.

Speaker A:

All right, so the minute sweaters are going up to the store, but Sam is still trying to like, explain Sully to Dean, right?

Speaker A:

He's like, yeah, I didn't think he was real.

Speaker B:

Even at nine, he didn't think he was real.

Speaker B:

And then he outgrew him.

Speaker B:

But he was a lonely kid.

Speaker B:

And he's like, you had me.

Speaker B:

And then we get a flashback and we have Sam watching the phone ring while Sully encourages him to answer this phone in this motel room that Sam is in by himself.

Speaker A:

Stuff.

Speaker A:

Young, A young Sam, nine year old boy.

Speaker A:

Nine year old Sam is by himself.

Speaker B:

Answering a pay phone in a motel.

Speaker B:

And he.

Speaker B:

It's Dean calling.

Speaker B:

And Dean tells shares that he asked dad and dad said no.

Speaker B:

Basically, Sam wanted Dean to ask if Sam could join the hunt with him.

Speaker B:

And dad and dad said no and.

Speaker A:

Proceeds just explain more Disturbing details.

Speaker A:

One, John was taking Dean hunting when he was younger than Sam.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So younger than 9 year old Dean was out there hunting monsters.

Speaker A:

Dean is blaming Sam for having an imaginary friend is a reason why he's not being taken.

Speaker A:

As he's hunting, young Dean looks incredibly like a young Corey Feldman.

Speaker A:

And Sam has been left alone in this motel room.

Speaker A:

This is really just the most disturbing thing.

Speaker B:

And they hang up.

Speaker B:

And that's that scene.

Speaker B:

And it's very distressing.

Speaker A:

Oh, no, there's one more thing that was also distressing.

Speaker A:

Sully was like, oh, now we can make those bottle rockets.

Speaker A:

Because it's the 80s.

Speaker A:

And so not only is a child left alone in a motel room, they also get fireworks because.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that was the 80s.

Speaker B:

I mean, also, I think he deserved them after hoses.

Speaker B:

He deserved it after that.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker A:

No, he should.

Speaker A:

So, all right, so we're gonna go back to the present, to the.

Speaker A:

The more also equally depressing present.

Speaker B:

And we've got our.

Speaker B:

Our men and men of sweaters introducing themselves as Doctors Strummer and McGowan at the front door.

Speaker A:

And so, Doctor, again, I'm gonna explain this to you.

Speaker A:

Should I?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

If I had to explain to people who Joe Strummer and Shayla Gallon are.

Speaker A:

You should go get off this.

Speaker A:

But all right.

Speaker A:

So they say that they are trauma counselors and they are here about, I think.

Speaker A:

Makes sense.

Speaker B:

Yeah, It's a good one.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I was like, okay, that's a good story.

Speaker B:

So she lets them in and Maddie is sitting staring off in the other room.

Speaker B:

And basically she says that Maddie has an active imagination and the unicorn man, Sparkle, was her imaginary friend.

Speaker B:

And she thinks that he is now dead in her room.

Speaker B:

And this is where Dean coins the term manicorn.

Speaker B:

So Sam and Dean are going to go talk to Maddie and they ask about Sparkle.

Speaker B:

And they find.

Speaker B:

They ask why she doesn't want to go to her room.

Speaker B:

And she says all the blood, which is a distressing response from a small child no matter what.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, but so they go to the room and it looks very, very normal.

Speaker B:

So mom leaves them there.

Speaker B:

Sully pops in and he is horrified and he's tiptoeing around the room and he rainbow boops their forehead.

Speaker B:

And suddenly they can see even though they've been.

Speaker B:

They have to be promised that they won't tell.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

And they can now see the horror, the glittery horror.

Speaker B:

Because even when he's dead, everywhere, even.

Speaker A:

When he said Sparkle can't stop shining.

Speaker B:

There's a lot of glitter blood.

Speaker A:

Is this what would happen if you.

Speaker A:

Edward.

Speaker A:

But yeah.

Speaker B:

Such a mess to clean up.

Speaker B:

Can you imagine?

Speaker A:

Oh yeah, no glitter.

Speaker A:

There was a sign that I took when I was on vacation last week at the ferry trail that said glitter is lit her.

Speaker B:

That's hilarious.

Speaker B:

Yeah, so it is a mess.

Speaker B:

And Dean's immediate comment was that the kid is going to need all the therapy.

Speaker A:

And yes, she will.

Speaker A:

But how do you explain this to a therapist?

Speaker B:

Oh, well.

Speaker B:

So he.

Speaker B:

So mom comes back in and she is straightening up, but she cannot see this.

Speaker B:

But Sam and Dean and we as the viewer can.

Speaker B:

And it is.

Speaker B:

Is awful because she is stepping through funny.

Speaker B:

It is hilarious.

Speaker B:

She's picking up bloody things.

Speaker B:

She's walking through puddles of blood.

Speaker B:

But she touches her face.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's glitter blood.

Speaker B:

And she touches her face and her face is now covered in glitter blood.

Speaker B:

It's a mess.

Speaker A:

And she just wants to know how they get their girl back.

Speaker A:

You know.

Speaker A:

And everyone's just.

Speaker A:

But then they're like, well, Sam first is like practical.

Speaker A:

Move Maddie into another room.

Speaker B:

Yeah, she'll get over it.

Speaker A:

Seems fine.

Speaker B:

And then Dean starts suggesting that a warm shower for the.

Speaker B:

For the whole family.

Speaker A:

Family shower.

Speaker B:

Warm family shower.

Speaker A:

And then she probably throws him out.

Speaker B:

I like that.

Speaker B:

Sully's like, pull up.

Speaker A:

Pull up.

Speaker A:

Too far, man.

Speaker B:

So yeah.

Speaker B:

So we cut to a backyard.

Speaker B:

And a woman is reading while Zoe, her daughter is swimming in their small above ground pool.

Speaker B:

And we see her friend there with her in the pool who we figure.

Speaker A:

Out is a mermaid.

Speaker A:

So this lucky ass girl gets a swim around in her pool with river ducky and a mermaid.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And so she's gonna.

Speaker B:

She has found treasure.

Speaker B:

But Zoe has to go to gymnastics.

Speaker B:

And so they're gonna look at the treasure later.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker B:

So the kid leaves and our mermaid is just chilling.

Speaker B:

She's just being a mermaid in the pool.

Speaker A:

Doing a mermaid thing like you do.

Speaker B:

And then someone sneaks up and stabs her.

Speaker B:

And we get a bloody pool all.

Speaker A:

Over the rubber ducky.

Speaker B:

Rude.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

So the boys in the Sully pull out.

Speaker A:

Sully is freaking out that Nikki never checked in with their home office last night.

Speaker A:

So this is.

Speaker A:

We're figuring out that solely as in management is kind of controlled.

Speaker A:

They check in like he is a bobby for the Xana.

Speaker A:

But they do a telepathy pathically and she didn't check in.

Speaker A:

And then Dean is just continuing on.

Speaker A:

Dick face.

Speaker A:

Like just being a dick.

Speaker B:

Yeah, he.

Speaker B:

You know, they.

Speaker B:

Sully is upset about this whole situation and this big bloodbath.

Speaker B:

And Dean just tells.

Speaker B:

Tells slowly let it out.

Speaker B:

But Sully's like, no, I've got to stay strong for Sam.

Speaker B:

And this like so sweet.

Speaker B:

Super sweet.

Speaker B:

But it shocks Dean.

Speaker B:

Dean is very confused by this.

Speaker B:

This comment.

Speaker B:

And he's like, okay, well now I'm gonna be investigator Dean and ask why would anybody want to hurt Nikki?

Speaker B:

And then.

Speaker B:

And she.

Speaker B:

Apparently her boyfriend was clingy, but her boyfriend's also Sully's best friend, so they don't suspect him.

Speaker B:

But Dean's like, oh no, we're gonna go talk to him.

Speaker B:

But we can't leave Nikki like this.

Speaker B:

Floating dead in the pool.

Speaker A:

So then Dean suggests they find a giant toilet to flush her.

Speaker A:

What the.

Speaker A:

Like, oh, man.

Speaker A:

Oh no.

Speaker A:

So Sully goes off to.

Speaker A:

To go find their shovels.

Speaker A:

And we're gonna take those shovels right back into a flashback.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we see Sam and Sully are playing a game called Everything.

Speaker A:

And they just kind of like never have you ever.

Speaker A:

But without the booze and dicks.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But they're just daydreaming and it's cute.

Speaker B:

And depressing about flying and eating waffles.

Speaker B:

And then it turns to running away.

Speaker B:

And he.

Speaker B:

Sam acknowledges that he does think about running away.

Speaker B:

And Sully's like, well, you could just go to school and make friends and child, because I won't always be here.

Speaker B:

And you can be whatever you want, Sam.

Speaker B:

You don't have to.

Speaker B:

You're not Dean.

Speaker B:

You're not your dad.

Speaker B:

You are awesome and your life is up to you.

Speaker B:

So let's run away.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So, interesting advice from your.

Speaker A:

Your.

Speaker A:

Your friend.

Speaker A:

So they.

Speaker A:

Sam decides that he's on board with this plan.

Speaker A:

So we go back to the pool where the boys are in their natural pastime of digging graves.

Speaker B:

And they bury Nikki the mermaid.

Speaker B:

While Sully is very upset and is just.

Speaker B:

But he's pretending he's fine and checking in on Sam periodically.

Speaker B:

So we cut to another house at.

Speaker A:

Night and we get to finally meet Weems.

Speaker A:

And Weems is awesome.

Speaker A:

Weems reminds me of Ash.

Speaker A:

And so he's like.

Speaker B:

He's like if Ash and a.

Speaker B:

With a sprinkle of Joe Dirt.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And so he is helping his charge hang up his sheet.

Speaker A:

So the kid's mom doesn't know that he was wetting the bed.

Speaker A:

But his mom's not going to wake.

Speaker B:

Up up because she drank a lot of juice tonight.

Speaker A:

A lot of the grown up juice.

Speaker A:

And then she went sleepy by juice box.

Speaker A:

So the Kid goes inside and Weems is gonna stay outside to finish hanging up the sheets.

Speaker B:

And he gets stalked and stalked.

Speaker B:

And then he gets stabbed.

Speaker B:

But they don't kill him because they.

Speaker A:

Stab him through the sheet.

Speaker A:

So they don't know where they're stabbing him because it's really stupid to stab somebody through a sheet.

Speaker A:

You should stab them on the other side of the sheet so you can see where your knife is going.

Speaker A:

And then we see.

Speaker A:

We see that figure running away.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And Weems, on the ground, sees the figure running away also.

Speaker B:

And it is a woman running into a blue.

Speaker B:

A very, very obvious blue VW bug.

Speaker B:

And he telepathically communicates.

Speaker A:

So now that we know they can tell us.

Speaker A:

He's, like, silly.

Speaker A:

Silly.

Speaker A:

So, Sam, why was Vicki, like, telepathically?

Speaker A:

Why did the other ones go so late?

Speaker B:

Like, maybe.

Speaker B:

Maybe it takes a minute.

Speaker A:

Yeah, there was a prize.

Speaker B:

So that's weird.

Speaker B:

Well, Sam, Dean and Sully creep up to the house and they find the bloody sheets in the.

Speaker B:

With handprints hanging in the yard.

Speaker B:

And they go into, like, the detached garage barn thing that this house has and follow the bloody handprints until they find Ween Weems.

Speaker B:

And apparently he was stabbed in the love handle and his fat saved him.

Speaker A:

Because fat is the best.

Speaker A:

Hooray.

Speaker B:

And Weems is shocked that Sam and Dean can see him.

Speaker B:

Rightfully so.

Speaker B:

But Dean's like, wait, when did you last see Nikki the mermaid?

Speaker B:

Also, I can't believe I just asked that.

Speaker B:

But Weems didn't know that Nikki was dead yet.

Speaker B:

So this is sad too.

Speaker B:

But also, that's weird for it to tell.

Speaker A:

Telepathic thing.

Speaker B:

But either way.

Speaker B:

So they also share that now Nikki's been murdered.

Speaker B:

Sparkle has been murdered.

Speaker B:

And Weems is extra upset because that's their whole posse.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that's a bummer, man.

Speaker A:

You lost all your friends.

Speaker B:

But Weems did see the chick run to the vw.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, great, that's something I can handle.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna go look for the chick in the vw.

Speaker A:

Because first, before I fall asleep, I gotta know who's so cool about Weems.

Speaker B:

He's gotta know.

Speaker B:

Other than that mermaids dig him.

Speaker B:

It's because he plays air guitar.

Speaker A:

And even with his stab wound, William shows him how he plays his air guitar.

Speaker A:

And I think Dean's heart grew a little watching him.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I think that this is.

Speaker B:

I think this is a skill.

Speaker B:

Like, if Dean could pick a.

Speaker B:

A imaginary friend talent, I think this is one he would pick.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Williams would have Been his friend.

Speaker A:

So he throws shade about him not being clapped in.

Speaker A:

And then Sam is left alone with Weems.

Speaker B:

So Weems is like, wait a minute.

Speaker B:

You're that Sam?

Speaker B:

Sully.

Speaker A:

Sam.

Speaker B:

Oh my goodness.

Speaker B:

That's crazy.

Speaker B:

How old are you?

Speaker B:

Well, that too.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, no, no, no.

Speaker B:

I'm helping him out.

Speaker B:

He came to me.

Speaker B:

Lynn's just like, oh, wow, you totally broke his heart.

Speaker B:

What?

Speaker A:

So then we go have another flashback and then we can see that Sully has a bendel.

Speaker A:

And that makes him a bendel stiff.

Speaker A:

So John has called and changed his mind and now wants his nine year old son to go with him.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And by his nine year old son to go with him on a hunt.

Speaker A:

He just has to go catch a bus to Milwaukee.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And that's just fine.

Speaker A:

I'm just gonna send my child on a bus across state lines.

Speaker A:

It's cool.

Speaker B:

Totally.

Speaker B:

And Sully is like, is this what you want?

Speaker B:

Are you sure this is you?

Speaker B:

Because Sully thought him and Sam were running away together.

Speaker A:

Kidnapped, like.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And he's like, you know, so you know, you're super brave.

Speaker B:

You don't have to prove that because.

Speaker B:

But hunting is not the only way.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, no, I want to be with Dean and dad, period.

Speaker B:

That's it.

Speaker B:

And so I was like, but I'm your friend.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, you're my pretend friend.

Speaker B:

You're not real.

Speaker B:

He gets really hurtful and mean and solid.

Speaker B:

Is just like, I'm here as long as you need me.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, don't.

Speaker B:

I don't know why I even made you up.

Speaker B:

I wish I could unmake you up.

Speaker B:

Just go away.

Speaker B:

That's very sad.

Speaker A:

That is.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Sully just wishes him a good long life and he disappears.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's sad.

Speaker B:

I don't like it.

Speaker B:

And Sam leaves.

Speaker B:

So we.

Speaker A:

I was like, what bus station is like selling a 9 year old kid a bus ticket to Milwaukee?

Speaker A:

Even in the 80s.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like I feel like somebody would have.

Speaker B:

Made a phone call.

Speaker B:

Somebody would have made a phone call.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

No, I don't sell bus tickets to children.

Speaker A:

Just basically you don't do that.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

I mean now.

Speaker B:

Well, Sully has retrieved bandages and he is going to bandage up Ween, who is going to wants to check on Fletcher because apparently Fletcher does have a very small bladder.

Speaker B:

So Sam and Sully are left alone and Sam tells Sully how awesome it is that Sully helps everyone around him.

Speaker B:

And he feels awful about how they left things Off.

Speaker B:

He was a jerk as a kid.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker B:

So it's just like.

Speaker B:

Yeah, goodbyes are hard.

Speaker B:

You know, it's.

Speaker B:

I considered.

Speaker B:

You know, I just considered you going off to hunt one of my biggest failures, but it's.

Speaker B:

You know, I thought you just would be.

Speaker B:

I thought it was clear that you would be better doing something else.

Speaker B:

But I was wrong.

Speaker B:

And it all worked out.

Speaker B:

You're a hero.

Speaker B:

You save the world.

Speaker A:

Yay.

Speaker B:

I've been watching you.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

And so, yeah, he's been keeping track of him.

Speaker A:

And he's done good.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

But now Sam has a confession.

Speaker B:

He's like, yeah, I've also done really, really bad stuff.

Speaker B:

Like, I don't know, letting.

Speaker A:

Sucked a bunch of demon blood.

Speaker B:

We didn't list it all.

Speaker A:

We didn't list it.

Speaker A:

We just started with the most recent, which was the Darkness.

Speaker A:

The Darkness.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, no, no, we're gonna fix it.

Speaker B:

We think God wants to help us.

Speaker B:

I just.

Speaker B:

I just don't know if I can do what God wants me to do.

Speaker B:

And Sully's like, how bad is it?

Speaker B:

And sounds like there's a cage in hell, like, lose a person.

Speaker B:

I think I'm supposed to go there.

Speaker B:

Which just sounds really bad when you say it, right?

Speaker A:

No.

Speaker A:

Well, he thinks that God wants him to go back.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So then Sully's like, ever think about running away?

Speaker B:

And Sam says, I have, but not anymore.

Speaker B:

And we get a text from Dean.

Speaker B:

I found her.

Speaker B:

Here's the address.

Speaker B:

Bring Sully.

Speaker A:

Sam goes, ever think about hot wiring a minivan?

Speaker B:

So we see Dean tied up and unconscious.

Speaker B:

And our killer has his phone and a knife.

Speaker B:

Dean wakes up, and she tells Dean that her.

Speaker B:

His brother is on the way.

Speaker B:

But we see kind of like Dean, like, hunting, like.

Speaker B:

Like trying to chase her down.

Speaker B:

We get like, a little mini flash.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it was a mini flashback.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we just see that he was dumb and got hit on the head.

Speaker B:

Yes, he got bonked on the head.

Speaker B:

And she.

Speaker A:

Concussion number 755 for Dan.

Speaker B:

That's not good.

Speaker B:

Like, when you're not supposed to have that many concussions.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it's.

Speaker B:

It's real bad.

Speaker B:

So we, Sam and Sully arrive, and this chick has her knife to Dean's throat.

Speaker B:

Sully recognizes Rhys immediately, and she wants to trade Sully for Dean because apparently Sully killed her sister.

Speaker B:

What the.

Speaker A:

So apparently with her and her twin sister.

Speaker A:

So her twin sister was playing tag with Sully, and she chased him into the street, and he didn't see the car, and the car hit her.

Speaker A:

And it killed her.

Speaker A:

And that's why he got out of the field.

Speaker A:

And he is too scared he would hurt another kid.

Speaker B:

And this was his first case after Sam, and he is very upset about it.

Speaker B:

And it's.

Speaker B:

Reese had to live with explaining to, yelling at people that Audrey's dead because of the invisible man.

Speaker B:

And all these shrinks that she had to see for that.

Speaker A:

She said that.

Speaker A:

Don't say that out loud.

Speaker A:

Kids, like.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean, even as a child, you should know not to tell that to your shrink.

Speaker A:

Drinks.

Speaker A:

Anyway, so she then got obsessed with folklore.

Speaker A:

Then she went to Romania, and then she learned about Santa.

Speaker A:

Then she met a witch.

Speaker A:

And the witch also tried to tell her that the Xana were good.

Speaker A:

And then the witcher, like, fine, whatever.

Speaker A:

Here's a spell.

Speaker A:

And here's a spell.

Speaker A:

And here's a knife.

Speaker A:

I will take your money.

Speaker A:

Thank you.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And apparently, you know, she wanted to remind Sully also that he wasn't just Audrey's a visible friend.

Speaker B:

He was her best friend, too.

Speaker B:

And she needed him when Audrey died.

Speaker B:

And he left because he couldn't handle that.

Speaker B:

What happened either.

Speaker B:

And so she wants to kill someone.

Speaker B:

And Sam's like, no, we shouldn't do this.

Speaker B:

And Sully steps in.

Speaker B:

He's like, would killing me make you feel better?

Speaker B:

Because this is what I do.

Speaker B:

Whatever's best for the kid.

Speaker B:

That's what I do.

Speaker B:

So Sully is ready to sacrifice himself and let Rhys kill him.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Because he's that good.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But she's still so mad, and she can't stop it.

Speaker A:

And then Dean gets out of a rose because a human being has tried to tie up Dean Winchester.

Speaker A:

And he's like, I know about revenge.

Speaker A:

That won't make you feel any better.

Speaker B:

And I've seen real monsters.

Speaker B:

And these Zanna.

Speaker B:

These Zanna are Sesame Street, Mother Teresa.

Speaker B:

And he said that when I wasn't there for my little brother, Sully was a.

Speaker B:

So he said he made.

Speaker B:

He made a mistake in that, you know, there's not a monstrous bone in his body.

Speaker B:

That's sweet.

Speaker B:

So Sully apologizes to Rhys.

Speaker B:

She's crying.

Speaker B:

I'm crying.

Speaker B:

Everybody's fucking crying.

Speaker B:

It's very sweet.

Speaker B:

And she drops the blade.

Speaker B:

And she just leaves to go back to therapy.

Speaker B:

Probably.

Speaker A:

Probably, yeah.

Speaker A:

I don't know what was happening to Rhys now.

Speaker A:

I mean, like, you can't.

Speaker A:

Like, she's not gonna go to jail, right?

Speaker A:

At least Dean didn't try to kill her.

Speaker A:

I mean, at least we have that.

Speaker B:

And Sully assures Sam that he really never wants to see him again after learning about Audrey.

Speaker B:

And Sam asks if Sully ever, ever thinks he's a hero to me.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Because.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So he's trying to be self deprecating.

Speaker A:

And then Sam's just like, one thing I've learned.

Speaker A:

Learned heroes aren't perfect.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

And then Sully tells Sam that heroes can be scared.

Speaker A:

And also this may.

Speaker A:

This thing may be something only he can do.

Speaker A:

So it sounds like Sully's life.

Speaker A:

You gotta go in the cage.

Speaker B:

That's kind of what he just said.

Speaker B:

And that's scared when they know it's doing something important.

Speaker B:

So Dean's like, hey, Sully, maybe you should go check on Reese sometime.

Speaker B:

Just a thought.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Girl kind of like went a little psycho there.

Speaker A:

Like maybe, you know.

Speaker A:

Look, you said you were checking in on your kids.

Speaker A:

I don't think you were.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And Sully agrees to do that.

Speaker B:

And Sully.

Speaker B:

Dean calls Sully good weird.

Speaker B:

Which is probably the best compliment you can get from Sam Winchester or from Dean Winchester in this scenario.

Speaker B:

So we get a disappearing act from Sully after well wishes across the board.

Speaker A:

So he goes off and then we have Sam staring off into space.

Speaker A:

And then like we cut to him staring off into space there.

Speaker A:

To him staring off into space in the car.

Speaker B:

Sam wants to seriously discuss him going to the cage.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, yeah, we can discuss it.

Speaker B:

It's not happening.

Speaker B:

Good talk.

Speaker B:

By Sam's like, no, no, no.

Speaker B:

We're gonna talk about it for real.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, no, we're gonna find another way.

Speaker B:

Sam just wants to know what that is.

Speaker A:

And it fades out.

Speaker A:

It sounds like Sam's still going to the cage.

Speaker B:

It does.

Speaker B:

Because Sam's gonna go, you know, if Dean and him don't come to an agreement.

Speaker B:

Because Sam's gonna go on his own.

Speaker B:

So Dean might as well get on the same page here and just let him happen.

Speaker A:

Clearly.

Speaker A:

Like, come on, we see how this goes.

Speaker A:

Winchester's.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

All right, so we'll talk about some of our Pretty Xana.

Speaker B:

Sure, we can do that.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker C:

Time with that guy.

Speaker B:

So we have Sully is played by Nate Torrance.

Speaker B:

He's been in episodes of csi, Malcolm in the Middle House, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met yout Mother, Reno911, Brooklyn, Nine9 and Superstore.

Speaker B:

He also does the voice of Clawhauser in Zootopia.

Speaker B:

Linda, our mom from.

Speaker B:

Maddie's mom was played by Carrie Genzel.

Speaker B:

She's been episodes of Bold and the Beautiful Multiple.

Speaker B:

with children, Beverly Hills:

Speaker B:

She played two characters, Skye and Tony, in All My children for over 100 and over 100 episodes.

Speaker B:

She was Jackie Kennedy in the Watchmen.

Speaker B:

She was a journalist in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and Mrs.

Speaker B:

Check in Jennifer's body.

Speaker B:

Young Sam.

Speaker B:

It's the first time we get this Young Sam actor is Dylan Kingwell.

Speaker B:

He played Quigley and Duncan in A Series of Unfortunate Events, over a dozen episodes of that miniseries.

Speaker B:

He's done quite a bit of Hallmark Christmas and plays teenage Clark in the newer Superman and Lois series.

Speaker B:

And then Reese was played by Anja Savic.

Speaker B:

I'm probably saying it wrong, but a N J A Anya is that we usually say them.

Speaker B:

Anya Savic.

Speaker B:

She's been episodes of Fringe, Flash I, Zombie X Files, Magicians Creep show and Tracker.

Speaker B:

She was Claire in Loudermilk over 30 episodes, Odette in Nancy Drew for a handful of episodes.

Speaker B:

And Scarlet and Big sky for a couple dozen episodes.

Speaker A:

Yeah, highly.

Speaker A:

She was so good in Loudermilk.

Speaker B:

Was she?

Speaker B:

I didn't get into that one.

Speaker B:

Check it out sometime.

Speaker B:

It keeps popping up on my radar.

Speaker B:

But Weems was played by Edward Witsk, I think you said W I T Z K e. He did it.

Speaker B:

You're Polish.

Speaker A:

You should be able to say that.

Speaker B:

I know he's done a lot of Hallmark movies and Hallmark Christmas.

Speaker B:

So like the.

Speaker B:

Not just the Christmas ones, but he was security in the Predator and has been a handful of episodes of the Flash as Sterling Zoe, our little girl in the.

Speaker B:

In the.

Speaker B:

In the pool was played by.

Speaker B:

Played by Isabel beach and she plays young Laura Jean into All the boys I've loved before.

Speaker B:

And Sparkle was played by Everett Shea.

Speaker B:

He was seen in episodes of Tower Prep and Arrow and is Elario in the Magicians.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Fun.

Speaker A:

Oh, hell, Sparkle.

Speaker B:

Super fun.

Speaker B:

I am not gonna lie.

Speaker B:

I know.

Speaker B:

I like the sad part about Rhys and Audrey is really like, pretty Bombersville.

Speaker B:

That didn't ruin the episode for me.

Speaker B:

I loved it.

Speaker B:

I love this episode.

Speaker B:

It brought me joy.

Speaker B:

It was sweet.

Speaker B:

It was important and I liked it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean, but it's just traumatizing.

Speaker A:

I'm just like, oh, my God, you killed a unicorn.

Speaker B:

Well, that's okay.

Speaker A:

Unicorn.

Speaker B:

I don't like that they got.

Speaker B:

I don't like the murdered part, but I enjoyed the.

Speaker B:

I enjoyed a.

Speaker B:

A thing affiliating a lore to imaginary friends.

Speaker B:

You know, sadly got murdered.

Speaker A:

Sadly got murdered.

Speaker A:

I wish they would.

Speaker A:

I. I think they shoehorned Zanna into that.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker A:

I wish Dean showed more dimension in this.

Speaker A:

I mean, I think if they had done more.

Speaker A:

I mean, I didn't love to see what was cut, but I.

Speaker A:

More of.

Speaker A:

There's, like, two reasons.

Speaker A:

Xena.

Speaker A:

The Xena that Dean hates Zanna.

Speaker A:

And it's that he is jealous of the relationship that Sully has with Sam.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker A:

And that is the weird other.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So it's the other ring of things.

Speaker A:

But these are like others whose only job is to make children happy.

Speaker B:

See, I thought he did come around well enough because he caught so long.

Speaker A:

Like, why did that take so long?

Speaker A:

Like, I don't know.

Speaker A:

I feel like.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

You hear, like, imaginary friends who are here to help children through good times.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna go get my gun.

Speaker A:

Shouldn't be your answer.

Speaker A:

You know what I mean?

Speaker B:

Like, yeah, but it's not shocking from Dean.

Speaker A:

I guess it's not shocking, but it just.

Speaker A:

You know, I would have liked to seen a little more growth come out of Mr. Winchester at this point.

Speaker B:

Like, that's asking a lot.

Speaker A:

It's asking a lot that we're in season 11 and he has grown.

Speaker A:

He has grown, and I think he should have grown.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

No, and as much as they, like, let, like, actual monsters go, you'd think he would, like, not go straight for the gun, for this.

Speaker B:

Not monster.

Speaker B:

I see what you're saying on that.

Speaker B:

That seems a little aggressive out the gate.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I think it's almost the good and bad side.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

But I don't know, the struggles that is the Winchesters.

Speaker B:

It is.

Speaker B:

I just.

Speaker B:

I don't know why I enjoyed it so much, but I just loved.

Speaker B:

I think it's fun.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker A:

You know, and Richard Spake did a great job drawing, directing, I mean, but it's still.

Speaker A:

I was still like, oh, man.

Speaker A:

You.

Speaker A:

Like, we're just gonna kill off all.

Speaker A:

All these things that are super great and just like.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker A:

Traumatized a bunch of kids.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Weems made it.

Speaker A:

Weems made it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So, I mean, they were fun deaths.

Speaker A:

I mean, I. I appreciate glitter blood everywhere.

Speaker A:

I think that was a great touch.

Speaker B:

It was really well done.

Speaker B:

And then.

Speaker B:

And then.

Speaker B:

God bless Carrie Genzel for the actress on that to be like.

Speaker B:

I mean, how would you not, like, die laughing, doing that everybody time?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I bet there's some good bloopers.

Speaker B:

I hope someone busted their ass in glitter blood.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker A:

That would be great, but.

Speaker B:

But yeah, that's what I got.

Speaker A:

All right, on that note, I hope someone busted their ass and glitter blood.

Speaker A:

Cheers, jerk.

Speaker B:

Cheers.
